5 steps to perfection

Cooking Steps

  1. 1

Heat the cooking oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the cinnamon sticks, chopped ginger, and chopped garlic. Sauté for a minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.

  2. 2

Add the chopped apples, dates, raisins, brown sugar, vinegar, mild chili powder, cumin powder, and salt along with 2 cups of water.

  3. 3

Mix well and bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook gently, stirring from time to time to prevent the mixture from sticking or burning.

  4. 4

Continue simmering until the apples are tender and the chutney thickens to a glossy, rich jam-like consistency.

  5. 5

Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Transfer to a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
