Is it really a picnic without chapathis and minced meat? Whether it was the beach or a long train journey, when mum opened up the casserole and served up those warm chapathis with this minced meat, it was a good day.

Ingredients

500 gMinced Beef (lean)
2 mediumPotatoes (diced small)
1 cupGreen Peas (fresh or frozen)
2 mediumOnions (finely chopped)
2 smallTomatoes (chopped)
1.5 tbspGinger-Garlic Paste
1 stick, 4 clovesCinnamon & Cloves
0.5 tsp, 1 tspTurmeric & Red Chilli Powder
0.5 tspGaram Masala Powder
2 tbspFresh Coriander (chopped)

Method & Preparation

    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan; add cinnamon and cloves, then fry onions until golden brown.

    Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped tomatoes; sauté until tomatoes are mushy.

    Add turmeric and red chilli powder. Add minced beef and break up clumps with a wooden spoon over medium-high heat until browned.

    Toss in diced potatoes and 1/2 cup warm water. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

    Add green peas and cook for another 5 minutes until peas are tender and gravy is thick.

    Sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander, and serve hot with chapatis or crusty dinner rolls.
